Women's Center of East Texas

The Women's Center of East Texas serves survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and sex trafficking across six counties — Gregg, Harrison, Upshur, Marion, Rusk and Panola — and it serves men, women and children. The way in is the 24-hour crisis hotline at (800) 441-5555. No appointment is necessary for immediate face-to-face crisis intervention and advocacy, and all services are free and confidential. Services include emergency shelter with food, clothing and necessities provided, transitional housing, individual counseling and peer support groups, individualized safety planning, children's advocacy and transportation. On the legal side, the center helps survivors apply for protective orders, navigate the criminal legal process, connect to civil legal resources for divorce, custody or child support, and apply for Crime Victims' Compensation. Advocates accompany survivors around the clock to hospitals — including sexual assault medical forensic exams — as well as to law enforcement, prosecutors and court. All services are available in Spanish. The center has been at this for over 40 years, operates offices in Longview, Henderson and Marshall, runs Hope's Closet and four education programs, and is a Greater Longview United Way partner.
