The Butcher Shop

The Butcher Shop opened on Lehigh Street in 1983 and still runs as a family-owned restaurant, bakery and meat market. Meats are ground and cut fresh daily, bakery items are made from scratch, bread comes out early every morning, the fries are hand-cut and the fried chicken breading is made in house — all of it, the shop says, the same way it was done in 1983. Regulars have been coming in for coffee for decades. The shop cites the things locals say about it — free beans and chili every day, the best burgers in town, and the Thursday night special. It has won Locals Love Us Longview awards in five categories: Bread & Bakery Retail, Burgers, Desserts, Sweets & Treats, and Wedding Cakes & Pastries, plus a Loved In nod for Breakfast.
