Tango Mango serves Asian rice bowls, smoothies, teas and authentic Taiwanese shaved ice from a renovated former Dairy Queen on Gilmer Road. The Longview News-Journal covered the opening, noting the building had been reworked and that the menu carries over some favorites from the Peking restaurant along with roughly a dozen rice bowl options, including shrimp and chicken fried rice. Taiwanese shaved ice is the item that sets the place apart locally — it is a lighter, more delicate cousin of a snow cone, built in layers with fruit and toppings, and it is not something you find on every corner in East Texas. Add the smoothie and tea menu and the result is part quick-service restaurant, part dessert stop. Hours run 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with online ordering available through the restaurant's own site.
