Southwest Scrap & Salvage
Auto & Transport
Serving Longview since 1967
About
Southwest Scrap & Salvage has been buying and processing scrap metal since 1967, and its own description of what it is looking for is hard to improve on: "Anything from old railroad cars to empty beer cans from the weekend. If it's scrap and it's metal, we want it."
The Longview yard sits on Railroad Road, with a second location down in Venus serving the Dallas-Fort Worth side. The company handles drop-offs, pickups and on-site processing, which matters a great deal on demolition jobs, plant turnarounds and farm cleanouts where the hauling is the expensive part of the equation. Yard hours are listed as Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to noon, closed Sundays. Scrap prices move with the commodity markets, so a phone call before you load is time well spent. Nearly six decades in the same business in the same town is a track record that does not happen by accident.
