About

The Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center is the City of Longview's animal shelter and adoption facility, located at 303 H.G. Mosley Parkway. The city says the center opened in July 2016 in a roughly 22,000-square-foot building and accepts animals from within Gregg County, including Longview, Kilgore, White Oak and Gladewater. Adoptable animals are not limited to dogs and cats. The shelter also takes in rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and a range of other species, and current adoptable pets are posted on the city website and on Petfinder. According to the city, adoptions include spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations and microchipping with an approved application. The center is open Tuesday through Saturday, with adoptions closing shortly before the doors do, so it is worth calling ahead if you are driving in near the end of the day. Volunteer opportunities and donation drives are coordinated in part through Longview PAWS, a separate local nonprofit that supports the shelter.
