Humane Society of Northeast Texas

The Humane Society of Northeast Texas is a private nonprofit shelter at 303 Enterprise St in Longview, with IRS recognition dating back to 1972. Its stated mission is the care, sheltering and adoption of domestic animals, and the prevention of animal cruelty, suffering and overpopulation through education. The organization serves a multi-county area of Northeast Texas, and its stated vision is a day when no healthy companion animal is euthanized for lack of a home, space or compassion. Beyond adoptions, the Humane Society has run community programs including a volunteer-driven feral cat trap-neuter-release effort with help from a local veterinarian, plus outreach and low-cost spay and neuter work.
