Hiway 80 Rescue Mission

Hiway 80 Rescue Mission is a faith-based nonprofit that has served homeless men, women and children in Longview since 1955. It was organized by a group of local pastors to help men who had come to East Texas looking for railroad and oilfield work and ended up with nowhere to go. The ministry now operates a men's shelter and development center along with a Women & Family Shelter, opened in 1998, whose family cottages were added in 2014. Services include meals, shelter, clothing, laundry, a medical clinic and chapel services, plus discipleship and recovery programs for men and women. In 2015 the mission expanded into Tyler with the Gateway to Hope day center, followed by Triumph Village in 2018. It is a Greater Longview United Way agency.
