Boys & Girls Club of the Big Pines

The Gregg County Club on West Garfield is the Longview home of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Pines, established in 1995. The organization runs six sites in all, including a second Longview location at Pine Tree Primary, plus the Carlile Center in Marshall and clubs at Elysian Fields and Waskom elementary schools. Getting in is straightforward: membership applications go through the organization's online registration portal. After-school programs run 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. every day the school districts are open, with school districts providing transportation from campus to the club and snacks served on arrival. Cost is a $25 registration fee plus $85 a month, and assistance is available for families who qualify — it can drop as low as $34 a month. The summer program runs 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with breakfast and lunch served. Programming follows the national Boys & Girls Clubs curriculum: Power Hour and Project Learn for academics, Keystone Club, Torch Club and Youth of the Year for leadership, Career Launch and Money Matters for career and financial literacy, SMART Girls, Passport to Manhood, and Triple Play for fitness. The organization is a funded partner of the Greater Longview United Way.
