About

Makoto Dojo — which also operates as Warrior of God Martial Arts — teaches Samurai Jujutsu, a blend of striking, grappling and weapons drawn from Japanese Jujitsu, Judo, Aikido joint manipulation, Kobudo weapons work, Filipino Kali and Hojojitsu. The dojo runs two locations: one on Old Highway 80 near White Oak and a second on US Highway 80 near Hallsville. Four programs are offered. Next Gen Ninja serves ages five to nine at the White Oak location, blending martial arts with parkour, gymnastics and fitness; Samurai Jujutsu takes ages ten and up; SJJ Kids runs at Hallsville for ages five to nine; and R.O.A.R. Combatives is a high-intensity street combat and weapons program for ages 14 and up. Private lessons are available. The dojo says its instructors bring a combined century-plus of experience, with several teaching for multiple decades, and the staff includes a defensive tactics trainer for first responders, a certified personal and group fitness trainer, and a licensed athletic trainer.
