About
Longview's skatepark sits inside Ingram Park, built on what used to be the tennis courts, and it exists because a group of local volunteers went out and raised the money for it. The City of Longview matched that effort with $40,000 in a public-private partnership, and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and City Council voted to name the facility after Brian Dodson, who led the volunteer and fundraising push.
The complex is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and it's free, which makes it one of the easiest places in town for skaters, BMX riders, and scooter kids to burn a couple of hours. It's a genuine community-built amenity, and the volunteer group that got it off the ground still keeps a Facebook page going for updates.
